Local Temple Offers New Mommy & Me Program

Temple Ner Simcha in Westlake Village is beginning a new “Mommy & Me” program for the community beginning the week after Thanksgiving.

The program will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings in the Partovi Children’s Library at the synagogue and will integrate Jewish values and teachings through storytelling, songs, crafts and general fun. The program is open to all families, and there is no charge to participate.

Tailored for children up to 5 years old with their parent or caregiver, the program will be led by Elle Nickerson.

“I’m excited to be working with children and to bringing our community together through my love of literature,” said Nickerson, who earned her B.A. in women’s studies from Loyola Marymount University, followed by a master’s degree in counseling and a P.P.S. credential in school counseling. After over a decade working in public education, she moved to Westlake Village to raise her own young family.

“Having Elle bring her passion, experience, knowledge and wisdom in creating this program is a blessing for everyone in the Conejo Valley,” said Rabbi Michael Barclay, the Spiritual Leader of Ner Simcha.

Like all programs at Temple Ner Simcha, there is no financial cost to attend. The synagogue offers all services, events and education, including religious school and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, for no fees and is the largest provider of no-cost High Holiday services in the nation.

Mommy & Me at the temple will be held every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. beginning on Nov. 28.
