WAVES OF FLAGS

Nearly 3,000 flags wave across the lawn of Pepperdine University during the month of September in honor of the lives lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The display educates both students and people far beyond the campus about the history of our country and the overwhelming sacrifices that heroic men and women have made to keep it safe, prosperous, and free.

CONEJO VALLEY CARS & COFFEE

Informal get-together to talk cars and drink coffee.

FAIRY TALES IN THE PARK

Free, live theatrical performances geared towards children ages 3–10. September features “The Wizard of Oz.” Bring blankets, chairs, water, snacks and sunscreen. Shows run approximately 45 minutes. Five locations in Ventura County. Go to www.fairytalesinthepark.com for all dates, times and locations.

DATES: Saturday, September 3 at Westlake Village and Simi Valley. Shows will be performed on September 4 and 10 at other locations (see below).

TIMES: 11:30 a.m. at Westlake Village and 4:00 p.m. at Simi Valley

SUMMER CONCERT IN THE PARK

Fan Halen, a Van Halen tribute band, will perform on Labor Day. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics. Food trucks will also be available.

CHINESE CULTURAL DAY

The Conejo Chinese Cultural Association is hosting the 5th Annual Conejo Chinese Cultural Day. The event includes exhibits, games, performances and food.

MALIBU FARMERS MARKET ART FEST

Beautiful art everywhere. Even watch the artists as they paint.

VENTURA ART & STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL

The event combines artists showing and selling their work and street painters who create colorful chalk pastel murals on the harbor’s sidewalks.

VENTURA COUNTY COASTAL CLEANUP DAY

Pick a cleanup site. Bring gloves, a hat, water, and a bucket to collect trash. Pre-registration is not required.

BILINGUAL PRESENTATION – THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF ABORTION

Former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino, the director of outreach of the peaceful, prayerful, effective 40 Days of Life project, will tell the story of efforts at the Thousand Oaks vigil site to bring the message of hope and life to families in crises pregnancies.

KIDS FUN ZONE

September features “Character Dress-up Fun!” Wear your favorite character costume to this special event featuring Princess & Superhero Shows. Each child will receive a free professional photo in their costume to keep! The September Kids Fun Zone also includes Face Painting, Zumba Class and a Gymnastics area for younger children. Fun entertainment and learning activities for kids ages 5-12. Activities include crafts, music and dance. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
